There was a story floating around that NFL Players were banned from attending any upcoming [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kenny Chesney[/lastfm] concert held in an NFL Stadium due to the lockout between the league and NFL players.
As the report went, NFL players would be in breach of the lockout if they attended any public event at an NFL stadium. Presumably, I they’d be barred from the Boat Show, or the Home Show, too.
But is the story fact? Here’s what the NFL says…
Players can attend non-league events at NFL stadiums, the NFL has clarified at NFL.com. But players aren’t allowed to contact team employees and coaches or use team facilities during the lockout, league spokesman Greg Aiello says.
The original story seems to have started with Kenny himself. “If you’re in the NFL (players’ union), you can’t go to your stadium, you can’t work out at your stadium, you can’t talk to your coaches,” Kenny told the Star Tribune in Minneapolis. It sounds like Kenny took that to mean concerts at the stadium would be off-limits, too.
Good to hear it was just a mix-up. Or maybe some quick-thinking by the PR department at the NFL. Because no ‘Boys of Fall’ at a Kenny concert? That’d be all kinds of wrong.
