I don’t know if Kyle Busch was doing much celebrating after walking out of the Iredell County courthouse earlier today.  After getting caught driving 128 MPH in a 45 MPH zone just a few months ago in Mooresville, NC.  Is that all he was punished with?

Could he have gotten more punishment? Probably.  But the winner of this past Sunday’s Sprint Cup race wasn’t let off very easy today. When he got caught going 83 mph over the speed limit he wasn’t only charged for speeding but also careless and reckless driving.

When it came to the speeding ticket he plead guilty which got him a 30 day suspended jail sentence with a year of unsupervised probation.  So as long as Busch doesn’t get in anymore trouble or anymore tickets within the next year, he won’t go to jail.  Hold on, Kyle could go to jail?  That would be crazy!

So if that doesn’t stink, he also had his license suspended for 45 days with no limited driving privileges, $1,000 fine and ordered to do 30 hours of community service with B.R.A.K.E.S teen driving program.  Well it looks like he will be bumming a few rides off some friends.  The fine is nothing but I think its really a great idea to get him in for some community service with the great B.R.A.K.E.S. program.  I hope even after his 30 hours he continues to help teens become better drivers.

Now all of that was just for the speeding ticket.  The reckless driving charge was continued so we will have to wait till he has to go back to court to find out what his punishment will be.  From what I’ve heard he could get up to 60 days in jail and his drivers license suspended for 12 months.

I guess all in all he got lucky.  He’s still alive, and no one was hurt in the incident.  Hopefully others learn from his mistake.  Speed and going fast is fun.  If its done at the right place, at the right time.  Thats why we have race tracks.

Race car drivers aren’t the only ones that like to play with speed and driving.  Check out what [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Brantley Gilberts [/lastfm] gone through behind the wheel.

Lucky to be alive.  The song he wrote about it is called “Halfway To Heaven.” Pretty amazing!
