Chicago Blackhawks forward and assistant captain Patrick Sharp has a lot to be smiling about this weekend: not only did he score the winning goal against the San Jose Sharks in overtime Sunday night, but he and his wife Abby just became parents to their new baby girl Madelyn Grace Friday afternoon!

Sharp admits that he thought he’d “be a wreck and nervous and stressing out about everything but everyone at the hospital was great… And my wife Abby was awesome throughout the whole thing. She was really in control and comfortable. It was a great experience.”

Today is the first day the happy family is back at home.  After the Hawks overtime win against the Sharks, Sharp said his wife and daughter were watching the game back at home and that his game-winning goal was for his new baby girl, making it that much more special.
