Yet another set of country stars have attached themselves to a reality TV talent show. Both Brad Paisley and Jason Aldean will be a part of a new TV show searching for unsigned musical talent on the Internet.
Titled Opening Act, the show will give aspiring singers the chance to open for Brad Paisley and Jason Aldean. Other artists sharing their stage will include Rod Stewart, Nicki Minaj, Gym Class Heroes, Jason Mraz and LMFAO.
The show will be produced by American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe.
“What we’re doing,” Lythgoe explained in a video interview with E! host Kristin Dos Santos, “is looking [at] the artists that have placed themselves on the Web…and we’re going to say, ‘Listen, you’re very good on the Web in your bedroom, but in five days’ time, you’re actually opening for Nicki Minaj.'” Or one of the other participating artists, which includes Paisley and Aldean.
“There is an extraordinary amount of untapped talent out there,” Lythgoe says in a quote via NY Daily News. “But if you don’t know the right people or have the right connections, you may never be discovered. With Opening Act, we are democratizing a notoriously impossible process.”
Opening Act debuts July 9 at 10pm ET on E!
