RIP Cal Daniels.

Just got a call from Debbie, Cal’s daughter, who told us that Cal had passed away. I can tell you this about this man, He was a mans man, something that’s hard to find anymore.

I was a young kid when I met Cal, he was this graveled voiced veteran of the once great WMAQ here in town, He was a pro, He was a goof, he was a voice of reason to a guy that wanted to light the radio world on fire. Today I feel sorry for the loss of a father and a good guy. I feel sorry for Rich Renik (Chicago radio legend) the two of these guys were buddies beyond compare, I will always remember how they would do the classic hand off during shift changes. The best one ever when these to maniacs did a ten minute rap  with their motorcycle helmets on. A funny bit that drove our boss nuts!

Cal I can smell the Marlboros in the US99.5 studios probably always will!

And to steal the catch phrase of my old pal: Hey God play an SOB song for Cal when you see him. “Slide Over Baby” One of the “Good Guys” is coming home.
