Tonight’s CMT Music Awards showcase just keeps getting more interesting. After news came that Lady Antebellum is collaborating with pop group Hot Chelle Rae, we’ve now learned that Rascal Flatts will be performing with none other than Journey.

Rascal Flatts has covered Journey in their sets before, and earlier this year, word circulated that Rascal Flatts was going to record a CMT Crossroads with Journey.

Now that Flatts/Journey collaboration is going to finally see the light, via tonight’s award ceremony.

During rehearsals, Flatts member Jay DeMarcus told CMT, “We’ve dreamed about collaborating with Journey forever. I [have long been] a huge fan, so to be able to stand onstage beside some your heroes is the best feeling on the entire planet. You can’t describe it. You can’t put it into words — and it’s nerve-wracking!”

Joe Don Rooney agreed it was “a little nerve-wracking,” but he also noted that it’s “cool is to see that these guys are as hungry as ever to perform and to play and to make music.”

The CMT Music Awards will be broadcast live tonight (Wednesday, June 6th) at 7pm on CMT and CMT.com.
