Shortly after stepping off a hot and sweaty stage at jam-packed Wrigley Field, Brad Paisley took to Twitter to show his thanks for an evening that featured a duet (“Whiskey Lullaby”) with The Band Perry’s Kimberly Perry and some good old classic country music guitar shredding.
Sporting a white cowboy hat, jeans, and blue-short sleeved button up, the 39-year-old country music superstar looked as if there was no where else in the world he wanted to be. After banging out hits like “Water” and trying his hand at a Chicago blues classic, “Sweet Home Chicago” it sure felt that way.
The crowd filled the entire stadium and outfield, as well as every rooftop that aligns the neighboring streets around the iconic ballpark, leading to the massive stage in centerfield, the perfect backdrop for large, loud country concert, Chicago style!
Whether it was “Old Alabama”, “I’m Still A Guy”, or any of his other dozen hits, the fans who came out to the north side never sat down during the nearly two-hour set, over 4 hours after the show started.
Getting things started way “back to the future” around dinner time was Jerrod Niemann, followed by Chris Young, The Band Perry, and Miranda Lambert (who briefly featured her Pistol Annies), and also didn’t end her night.
If that wasn’t enough, Miranda Lambert’s night was only getting started. Shortly after her set, she headed over to Joe’s Bar on Weed Street to help out Thomas Rhett, who was holding his own during a late night show. Donning a backwards hat and t-shirt over her Wrigley Field set outfit and drink in her hand, Miranda seemed just as comfortable in front of 500 fans or 25,000.
