Keep your ears peeled for Miranda Lambert‘s new single Fastest Girl in Town, which she co-wrote with fellow Pistol Annie Angaleena Presley. The song can be found on Lambert’s Four the Record album, and she tells us that it’s got a lot of attitude and spunk.

“We wrote Fastest Girl in Town,” Miranda says, “and it’s definitely got her Kentucky-raw-girl spin on it, and it’s got my bullets flying around, and this crime to it.”

If you haven’t heard it yet, A) What are you waiting for?! and B) It’ll remind you of old Miranda songs like Kerosene or Gunpowder & Lead.

Of course her recent singles have been a bit quieter and less in-your-face, but this is a return to that vibrant spirit that made us fall in love with Miranda in the first place.

As for the aforementioned “crime” and “bullets,” Miranda says it’s not a negative song at all. In fact she states that “it kind of makes being the fastest girl in town not a skanky thing but a glamorous thing.”

We get to see the “glamor” in the music video which stars NASCAR’s own fastest girl, Danica Patrick.

A 19-year-old Chicago student was exercising a little too fast herself when she had a stroke on a treadmill. Now, she can’t speak and the right side of her body is left with little movement. A benefit concert was held in her honor hosted by Vince Gill and Amy Grant.

The battle between Tim McGraw and Curb Records continues. Nashville courts ruled in favor of the record company, which means McGraw owes them an album.

Former American Idol contender Kellie Pickler is also experiencing label issues, and has parted ways with Sony after each party agreed not to renew her contract.

But we’re ending with some happy news! Emily Robison of the Dixie Chicks is expecting her fourth child in September.
