Trish Biondo’s Nashville Hotline: Taylor Swift Sweeps Teen Choice Awards; Jason Aldean Helps New Artist
Taylor Swift swept the Teen Choice Awards and became the most-awarded female in the history of the show with over 20 wins in her career.
Taylor won every category she was nominated for last night: Choice Female Artist, Choice Female Country Artist, Choice Single by a Female Artist for Eyes Open, Choice Country Song for Sparks Fly, and Choice Movie Voice for Audrey in The Lorax.
Even though Taylor’s probably used to winning awards by now, she still gave a very heartfelt, humbling thank-you.
“Thank you so much,” Taylor said while she accepted her awards. “This has been such an amazing year, and I want to say ‘thank you’ to some people that were involved in some really cool projects I got to be a part of this year. I want to thank everybody involved with The Hunger Games, and everybody who had a part in The Lorax, and Zac [Efron] and all the co-stars; and the fact that you guys voted for me for this– this is a really, really huge award, and I’m so excited, and I just feel so honored that I get to have you guys in my life. I’m so happy right now. Thank you so much!”
Hunter Hayes won the award for Choice Country Male, and Lady Antebellum won for Choice Country Group.
Yes, kittens are cute, but so are babies! Congratulations to Jay of Rascal Flatts and his wife, Allison, on their new little rascal: Dylan Jay, who was born Friday afternoon. Jay was in Detroit for a show, but flew home in time for the birth and then flew back in time for the show! Thank goodness for opening acts, which probably bought Jay a little time.
Speaking of opening acts, catch Jason Aldean as he helps aspiring country artist, 16-year-old Kylie Morgan, on E!’s new series, “Opening Act.” Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan are also on the show!
