Lon’s co-host this Sunday morning is newcomer Eric Paslay, who is excited to have his first Top 10 hit with the lead-off single Friday Night from his forthcoming debut album in stores February 4th.
And he may be a new voice you’re hearing on the radio, but he’s no stranger to country music, as he’s written over 750 songs! Some of these became HUGE hits. Maybe you’ve heard Jake Owen’s Barefoot Blue Jean Night? Or Love & Theft’s Angel Eyes? How about Eli Young Band’s Even if it Breaks Your Heart? Yup! All of ’em were penned by Paslay.
Obviously, it’s great having a song you wrote hit number one. But when it’s your own song with your own voice, it’s that much more amazing. And for this song in particular, Eric couldn’t be happier with his introduction to country radio.
“Everybody loves a Friday night,” Eric says. “From the moment you enter kindergarten, you know what Friday means: it means you got the weekend. You’re not going to school anymore, and we just thought it would just be a cool thing to be somebody’s Friday night.”
That couldn’t be more true. Who doesn’t love Friday? Clearly, lots of people are relating to it: it’s now officially a top 10 single!
“There’s definitely a magic in the song for me and I think a lot of people that it’s sittin’ in the top ten,” Eric says.
