FIRST GUEST: Pam Kitts, Chair of Heartland Animal Shelter’s 10th Annual Walk of Love
Heartland is celebrating a decade of walking for homeless animals during their 10th annual Walk of Love! Join them for a leisurely, dog-friendly 2k walk on Saturday, July 16th at the Blue Star Memorial Forest Preserve in Glenview (701 E. Lake Avenue). Registration begins at 8:45 a.m., and the walk starts at 9:30 a.m.
Walkers will enjoy breakfast, shopping among their vendors, t-shirt, and of course… pooches! Doggies will get to splash around in the puppy pools. And professional photographers will be there to capture all the fluffy cuteness.
Register in advance at heartlandanimalshelter.net for just $25.00! Or register the day of for only $30.00. Children 3 to 12 years old are $15.00 in advance, and $20.00 day of. Kids under 3 are free. Want to bring the whole family? Save when you register in advance together (up to 4 members) for $75.00, or $80.00 the day of.
Folks who raise $125.00 or more in donations will receive FREE admission to the Walk of Love! So gather donations from friends, family members, or co-workers. It’s amazing how quickly small contributions can add up! Or, join Team Furry Love online, and have your friends make donations online. Simple and easy!
The money raised benefits the dogs and cats at Heartland. There are medical needs, spay and neuter costs, vaccinations, food, and other supplies that are needed, which YOU are providing just by walking!

What’s better than running a 5K? How about running a 5K on Soldier Field and then devouring burgers and beer afterward?
That’s what’s on the agenda for Monday, July 18th at the 5th annual Burgers & Beer 5K Run presented by Shake Shack! All runners will receive a custom church key bottle opener, a complimentary brew from Begyle’s Brewing, and will have plenty of burger options (including vegan options) from Shake Shack!
