Protesters Rush Stage After Ryan Lochte Performs on DWTS

Well, the 23rd season of Dancing with the Stars started out with a LOT of drama. As you know, U.S. Swimming Olympian Ryan Lochte has been suspended for 10 months after an incident at the Rio Olympics and evidence that he embellished what happened to one night at a gas station. Many Americans have strong feelings about Lochte and his punishment, that some chose to show during the premiere of DWTS tonight.

After Lochte and his performance completed their dance, while they were listening to their feedback and getting their scores, two men rushed the floor. They were both wearing shirts that said “Lochte” with a red circle and line through it. One of the men reportedly began yelling at a camera as they were tackled.

The show cut to commercial break and the men were detained. Lochte and his partner were shaken after the incident as well as many other contestants.

Jana Kramer told People, “Ryan was backstage and close to tears. Everyone makes mistakes and I really hope America gets to see the guy we are all getting to know, which is a really, really nice guy.”
