Lauren Alaina: ‘Everyone is unique and beautiful and we should celebrate that, not try to hide it.’

Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, Martina McBride, and so many others blew up Twitter when Lauren Alaina released her album, Road Less Traveled, and the country communities’ support was something that she was not expecting at all.

Something else she wasn’t expecting: to open up about her eating disorder.

“I accidentally spoke out about it, I’m so glad that I did now,” she revealed to Kimmie backstage at the ACM Awards. “I was just in this interview and this lady she’s like, “You’re so comfortable in your skin. What’s your trick?” I just remember thinking, “I don’t have a trick; I’m just as insecure as the next person.’

“People never really knew that about me, but I wanted to speak out about it because I think we all have insecurities and we all have things we want to change about ourselves. It’s not something to be ashamed of.”

Regardless if it’s weight or height or the color of your skin. Everyone is unique and beautiful and we should celebrate that, not try to hide it.”

Lauren, you truly are an inspiration to us all.

Thank you for being brave and sharing your journey with us.

Tune in tomorrow to the ACM Awards on CBS at 7pm.
