The country singer-songwriter said he spent the past two years writing for the album.
“I didn’t want to do a solo project out of a dislike for Sugarland. I love that music. And yet there’s something else that I think I need to prove to myself and share something different with my fans, too.”
“I enjoy exploring the topics less explored,” Nettles said of the songwriting on her brand-new solo album “That Girl.” She also spoke about Sugarland’s future: “we left it open-ended.”

The Sugarland singer today revealed the cover art and full track list for her upcoming solo album ‘That Girl.’
“I’ve been wanting to do this project for a long time,” the Sugarland singer said of her first-ever solo album, which will hit stores in January.
“I now write 160, 180 songs a year. I had to build a database just to hold them. It’s a fascinating place to be right now. It’s a weird feeling.”
Filmed in New York, the video for “That Girl” brings the song to life. Nettles is shown looking glamorous with her man, only to find out that she’s actually the woman on the side.
